Breakfast Burrito... mmmm.... yummy

wow two posts in a day, you are so lucky.

so I had a breakfast burrito today from the cafeteria here at work and noticed a couple things I wanted to share.

a sign that the economy is bad? the cook takes a pinch of salt and adds some of it to the ingredients in the burrito, then throws the rest of back into the salt bin. man it must be really bad... or is it...

so the burritos are big, they generously give a lot of filling, either because they are nice or they are really bad at estimating what is a good amount to make a good sized end product. I am going with the former because I do not want to believe that even after months they don't learn that too much will be bad for the tortilla. which leads me to my next observation. Tortillas that come out of the package are brittle and warming it up will help that a bit. Ideally you want to steam it because throwing it on the grill too long will take more moisture out and make it worse, but you can soften it up if you are careful. Here its put on the grill for maybe 10 secs, after which they try to fit the mountain of filling in it (which although nice, not so good for me since I am watching my weight after being called fat by my friends back home during my break). As you might have guessed, the tortilla gave, leaking some of the delicious burrito juice onto the plate. So he puts a new tortilla on the grill for the same 10 seconds, throws the burrito in that one, old tortilla and all, wraps that up, throws away the plate with the juice and presents it to me on a new plate. Two tortillas and two plates, maybe there is some hope that the economy is doing fine.

by the way, despite his efforts, the burrito still leaked, onto my pants. More deliciousness lost what a bummer. Maybe the day will get better, maybe not.
